At this year’s Milan Furniture Fair, Tom
Dixon was the creative force behind one
of the key design destinations in the city,
providing a curated hub of brands exploring
new materials, technologies, production
techniques and distribution systems. At the
Museum of Science and Technology, he also
hosted the first open design competition
based on a modular concept, with participants
given access to the design files of his new
products and challenged to reconfigure
and remix them into different functional
objects. The prize-winning design will be
3D printed and assembled and featured at
this September’s Maison & Objet in Paris.

forces that are changing how design is
manufactured, marketed and sold.
